As per CNN, a massive tornado had hit the Southern Plains of Norman, Oklahoma on Monday, May 10 around 5 p.m. CST (6 p.m. EST). Report says that the crew spotted a funnel-like cloud touching the plains 15 miles south of Oklahoma City, Norman.
Till now this massive storm has killed five people, injuring dozens. Quite a number of cars have been blown off from the highways, houses have been toppled and hail was seen crushing against the windshields.

Jerry Lojka of Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management, said that two people have been killed in Oklahoma and the remaining three have been killed in Cleveland County, south of Oklahoma. The official report indicates that almost 58 people have been severely injured. The rescue team is still searching, fearing that more and more people might be adding to the list of the injured.
The Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett told the CNN reporters, “This was a significant storm and a deadly storm”.
Accordingly to the director of corporate communications for Norman Regional Health System, Brenda Finkle, said that the hospitals admitted 8 patients on Monday night. The conditions of those patients were quite critical with severe injuries and head trauma. Reports also reveal that approximately 32 injured were being treated at the Moore Medical Center and Regional Hospital.

DISH TV channel CNN interviewed the Oklahoma City Police Chief William Citty. He said that the storm had destroyed almost 40 residences and damaged at least 40 more.
The American Red Cross offered a helping hand by setting up two shelters in Oklahoma, Tecumseh and McCloud.
Sammy Ward and his partner witnessed the twister too. They were about to leave the parking lot in their truck when the storm hit the grounds. Sammy said, “It started hailing and then it quit hailing and then all of a sudden the wind hit and it just went dark and here went everything. Trucks went to rocking ... and next thing we know the whole roof and everything was gone.” Sammy was felt that was “very lucky” since this natural calamity lasted only for few minutes.
The CCN reporter Rebecca Barbato said that she heard tornado sirens going off in her neighborhood in Moore (north of Norman) when the hail started showering on her roof-top.
The Norman Storm Prediction Center had long before predicted this natural calamity. The officials said that “the atmosphere had the right mix of winds, heat and moisture. One twister touched down just east of the center's building on the University of Oklahoma campus”.
Several other news channels broadcasted the storm coverage and most of them showed live videos as the twister swept over the entire countryside.
